An ideal Virtual Mentors is high school student, a college student or an adult VOLUNTEER who is passionate about helping children and who:
An ideal Virtual Mentors is high school student, a college student or an adult VOLUNTEER who is passionate about helping children and who:
- Is 16 years old or older
- Is extremely comfortable using a variety of technology platforms such as Google Drive and Zoom
- Is able to commit to a minimum of five (5) month period
- Is able to work or volunteer a minimum of 2 hours per week and complete up to 10 hours in training with a STEM Coach over the five month period
- Can provide 2 character or professional references
- Is willing to submit to a background check
- Is bilingual (NOTE: Not required but we do encourage bilingual applicants)
Virtual Mentoring is part of the STEM Navigators program, and originated as one of our STEM Solutions at the start of the COVID-19 crisis. The move to online learning caused significant learning loss for low income children. The Virtual Mentoring program works to fight learning loss and promote equity for all digital learners.
